Today marks the release of my first ever original album! Since I’m a lazy bum I’m gonna go ahead and copy+paste the linear notes I’ve written for the album, do read them through to become one of the enlightened. Even though my heart is with video game music, you can’t expect all your ideas to fit in games. You can’t even expect to get enough work to try those ideas in games. Sometimes, just sometimes, you want to make music for yourself. ‘We Express Ourselves With T-Shirts’ is a compilation of such music written on various occasions and locations between 2007 and 2009. The title is a self-referential joke that grew on me and ultimately made it to the cover of this compilation.

‘Richard’s T-Shirt’ was subconsciously inspired by Aphex Twin’s fantastic track ‘Xtal’ from ‘Selected Ambient Works 85-92′. It’s not a blatant rip-off but I feel that it has to be mentioned since this particular album has influenced me a lot. Look at it as a tribute. ‘T-Shirt Made by Sang Han’ was composed especially for Sang Han, artist extraordinaire, co-worker and good friend. ‘Stolen T-Shirt With Black Cat Print’ is built around a single sampled loop from a track called ‘Black Cat’ by Gentle Giant. While it’s probably somewhat illegal I couldn’t resist the organic, pulsating and oh so lovable track when putting together this album. Sorry about that copyright holders, at least I’m putting it out for free!
